CASE STUDY · AUTOMATION / QA
ParaBank Automated Validation System
My capstone project from the Capgemini (Sogeti Business Unit) training. I automated tests for account creation and fund transfers in a demo banking app, on both the UI and the API.
Problem & goal
Testing account creation and fund transfers by hand takes time, and things can get missed. The goal was to automate those two flows for both the UI and the API and run them on more than one browser.
What I did
- Built Page Object Model classes for the ParaBank UI with Playwright and TypeScript
- Wrote API fixtures so I could call the same actions through the API and check the results matched the UI
- Wrote positive and negative test cases for both flows
- Ran the tests on Chromium, Firefox and WebKit
- Added schema validation for API responses, plus reusable test data and utilities
Architecture
Test layer (Playwright + TypeScript)
Page Objects / API fixtures
ParaBank application (UI + API)
Assertions / validation
HTML / Allure report
Output
ⓘ
I haven't added screenshots of a test report to this page yet. The test code, page objects and fixtures are in the GitHub repo.
CI/CD
The repo includes a Jenkinsfile and a GitHub Actions workflow for running the tests in CI. I haven't used CI in a real production setup.
Limitations
- It's a training project on a public demo app, not a production system
- I haven't added test report screenshots yet
- I built it during training, so it isn't the same as full-time professional work
What I learned
Good structure matters a lot in automation. Reusable page objects and fixtures make the tests easier to update when something in the app changes.
